JUST ANNOUNCED: Tuesday, March 23 Embassy of Finland Night of The Kalevala: Art, Music, and Dinner to Celebrate the Mystery of Finnish Mythology from Kalevala Art Songs to the Lord of the Rings. Join us by yourself or with friends at the Embassy of Finland, for a unique evening of Finnish culture, inspiring art, musical performance, and delicious traditional dinner to celebrate the inspiration of the Kalevala! The Kalevala, the national epic of the Finns, enjoys an enormous and ongoing impact on Finnish art, culture, and national identity. Begin your journey with a cocktail reception and open bar. Experience the world of the Kalevala as you socialize with other internationally-minded professionals and embassy personnel. Then, enjoy beautiful and powerful art songs composed by the most famous Finnish composers and performed by classically trained performers from Finland. FRIDAY: Celebration at the Residence of the Ambassador of Burkina Faso: An elegant evening of art, culture, and dinner! Have you been to Burkina Faso? Now is your chance! You are invited to an evening of rich culture, exquisite art, and authentic cuisine to celebrate Burkina Faso, and the efforts of women to enrich their lives in commemoration of International Women's Day. You will be welcomed by the ambassador’s spouse, get a chance to bid on luxurious items made by the women of Burkina Faso,  enjoy a a short movie presentation and a buffet of  traditional delicacies prepared by the ambassador’s chef. Discounted tickets available for a limited time!

SATURDAY: Guided Garden Tour of Dumbarton Oaks Museum and Hillside Gardens in Georgetown. Wednesday, March 17 International St. Patrick’s Day Party at The Brickskeller: Celebrate to the Sounds of a Live Irish Band with Beer from Around the World. Join us for an international St. Patrick’s celebration at the Brickskeller, DC’s award-winning pub featuring bottles and drafts from around the world. Sample from an unmatched menu boasting over 1000 bottled beers from six different continents. A live Irish band will be performing songs from the Emerald Isle. Dance the night away or just meet new friends in the Brickskeller’s down-home saloon atmosphere. Saturday, March 20, 2010. A Hot Night in Havana : Salsa Vs. Merengue Dance Party and Lessons at K Street Lounge. Set your weekend on fire with a hot night in Havana! Let Latin beats guide your body as we teach you to salsa and merengue, and set the dance floor aflame! Tickets start at $5 for the best dance party in town featuring these two popular Latin dances. Both singles and couples are welcome to attend. You do not need a partner to attend, as partners will be rotated during the lesson. No prior dance experience is necessary, as we will have you dancing salsa and merengue in no time! Sunday, March 21, 2010. National Portrait Gallery Guided Tour: Discover the Story Behind the Icons of American History. Join your ICDC friends on a journey of discovery as we explore the characters that make up the America. The National Portrait Gallery explores in painting and art the individuals of the past and present that continue to color American history. The Gallery is home to such iconic works as the official portraits of the American presidents, Shepard Fairey’s “HOPE” portrait of President Obama, and plaster cast of the head of Abraham Lincoln. Meet your friends in at the Courtyard Café in the magnificent Kogod Courtyard for lunch before the tour. Our museum tours are one of our most popular events and always sell out well in advance. Saturday, March 27, 2010. Private Tour of Kreeger Museum: Discover a Magnificent Collection of 19th and 20th Century Paintings and Sculptures. Join us for a private guided tour of Kreeger Museum's permanent collection of 19th and 20th century paintings and sculptures to discover one of the world's preeminent collections of impressionist art. Saturday, March 27, 2010. Fencing Lessons Including Equipment Rentals. Join us for an exciting lesson on swordsmanship and chivalry. The lesson will cover the basics of fencing in a relaxed, fun, and SAFE setting. All equipment will be provided. After the lesson, practice your fencing skills with other attendees. Saturday, April 03, 2010. Cherry Blossom Fireworks Cruise on the Potomac: Depart from the Southwest Waterfront Gangplank Marina for magnificent views of cherry blossom festival fireworks. We have the best seats in town to watch the fireworks display that is a part of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. Watching the fireworks from the Potomac River is a truly unforgettable and magical experience. Imagine the illuminated Washington monuments along with sweeping views of the Washington skyline at a distance as you enjoy wine from the cash bar and the company of your ICDC friends! The experience is only heightened by the presence of cherry blossoms in bloom throughout the waterfront along the Potomac River. We expect this cruise to be very popular.
